The Challenge of Creating a Social Media Marketing Plan

Social media is one of the most popular ways for companies to market their brand now a days. Facebook has been a great platform for companies to engage with their followers on a more personal level. In order to market a brand or products using Facebook, you must have a solid marketing plan to actually receive the feedback and engagement that you may be looking for. It also will set you up to successfully reach the specific audiences that your products adhere to. When determining what your social media marketing strategy will be, specifically for Facebook, it is a good idea to set goals for your company for what you eventually want to achieve over time.

The reason I say this is a challenge is because many companies do not actually know how to properly create a social media marketing plan in the first place. This is critical to your companies success, especially if you want to get your name out there and receive more users and customers. There are basically two main components to creating a marketing plan which is to create customer personas, and to set Facebook marketing goals. It may not seem like a lot of work at first, but it is critical to perform research and set objectives to begin your marketing plan.


First things first is you must know your customer. You want to make sure that you are reaching out to audiences that want to buy your products and people that live the lifestyle that your company displays to its customers. In order to achieve this, you must research your customer to find out who you should market to directly. Look into demographics, lifestyle choices, and annual incomes. Find out as much as you can about the consumer. This will let you get a better understanding on what specific social media marketing tactics that you will need to do in order to gain more customers and receive more engagement within your companies Facebook.


Setting goals for yourself is something that should be done throughout your whole life. Take this habit and apply it to your company or business. Setting goals and objectives that you wish to meet in the near and far future will help you get a better sense on what you have to do in order to meet them. Some things that you may have to do is create brand awareness, marketing campaigns, grow followers on your Facebook, provide great customer support, and drive traffic to your companies website from your social media accounts.

These two steps should be taken very seriously when creating a Facebook marketing plan, or any social media marketing plan for that matter. After this is completed, it will then be easier to create content plans, come up with promotion strategies, and reach various goals that you have set.
