Fashion trends come and go all the time. Each year, new trends appear and usually everyone wants to get their hands on whatever those trends may be. There are many trends that I have followed throughout the years, but I am going to talk to you about three specific trends that I have loved and still do to this day.
1. Scrunchies
Remember those hair ties that every girl wore in the tv show Full House? The fun, colorful and statement scrunchies are a trend of the 80s and 90s that came back in style a a couple years ago around the summer of 2017. Still to this day they have become a trend that many girls wear. They accessorize any outfit and add a simple yet stylish piece to any look. It is said that model Bella Hadid and singer Selena Gomez were just some of the early adopters of the scrunchie and the first people to start wearing them again in 2017. The scrunchie appeared on the runway of the Mansur Gavriel fashion show during New York Fashion Week and once people saw those models wearing them, everyone fell in love. Another perk of scrunchies is they are less harmful to your hair, as the fabric doesn't pull and tug as much as a plain hair elastic would. Now go out and get yourself some scrunchies!
2. Animal Print
Patterns and designs of fabric are always going in and out style depending on the season and the year. In Autumn/Fall of 2018, the trend to keep an eye out for was animal print, specifically leopard print. Every fashion influencer on Instagram and Youtube were buying pieces with this unique and wild print to add a trendy piece to any ensemble. Whether it be shoes, a handbag, a skirt, or a button down blouse, anything animal print was in! This trend has continued into the beginning of 2019 and will probably last for the rest of the winter season this year. Designers Tom Ford and Calvin Klein showcased leopard print on their runways for their A/F 2018 fashion shows. Once everyone saw celebrities wearing this print, such as Victoria Beckham and Posh Spice, everyone needed to get their hands on something leopard to make a bold statement in their wardrobe!
A trend that spiked in Spring/Summer 2016 was off-the-shoulder tops, dresses, and rompers. This neckline adds a feminine touch to any outfit. Showing off your collarbones and shoulders can also add a flirtatious feeling to your look, without showing too much skin. Designers fell in love with this style and all of a sudden runways were filled with the up and coming off-the-shoulder silhouette. Designer Charles Frederick Worth loved this trend, as his haute couture gowns showcased this style perfectly. Celebrities such as Katy Perry, Lily-Rose Depp, and Kerry Washington rocked off-the-shoulder pieces in 2016. Fashion influencers soon caught on to the trend, and these tops and dresses hit stores everywhere. I think this neckline won't ever go out of style, as it is very flattering and it stands out, rather then just wearing your basic short sleeve shirt. This summer I bet we will sure see this trend come back again!
